Brian - Philippa will be leaving her role as Administrator at BDA Ltd. at the end of this week on 13th December. She will be progressing in her career in Arts Management in an exciting new role at Northern Stage.

Brian Completed Tyne Theatre and Opera House Preservation Trust application to the Heritage Lottery Fund – we are hoping for a successful outcome before Christmas.

Brian - Very successful and positive 2 weeks work in South Africa and I've returned in time to catch the last week of Edinburgh Fringe. Looking forward to seeing Theatre San Frontieres Canary Gold amongst many others!

Brian - Away to South Africa for 2 weeks to start work on a new consultancy project for the newly formed Joburg City Theatres; strategic planning for the new board.

Philippa - NQT cultural sessions in collaboration with NCAN. A tour of the Tyne Theatre and discussions with teachers about the Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust's exciting plans for developing its education programme.

Philippa - We have received a high volume of applications for the Trust's new directing and post-graduate study intern and interviews are under way!

Philippa - Almost time for Festival of the North East and our June performances of Beneath the Boards and the Trust has received some fantastic press!

Brian  - BDA Ltd have been approached by D3 Associates to undertake a report as part of an investigation they are carrying out for Stanley Town Council on the acquisition and development of the Lamplight Arts Centre, Stanley.


Philippa - Almost time for Festival of the North East and Guerilla Communications have designed a fantastic flyer for Beneath the Boards which includes the new Trust logo!


Philippa - Brilliant day of events for M86 Project! Great to see the achievements of so many! Many thanks to everyone involved for a fantastic project. Brian - Presented our report for Arts Centre Washington to Sunderland City Council today. A fantastic programme of events with an enthusiastic team. Many thanks to Helen Green for a great project all the best for the future!

Philippa - Attended the first HODS (Heritage Open Days) meeting for 2013! Great to be able to showcase the Tyne Theatre & Opera House to the public once again! This was an important session to ensure that our event is as accessible as possible over the weekend. Great to meet Fiona Cullen, HODS coordinator for the Newcastle and lots of other enthusiastic participants, forging further connections for the Trust.


Philippa - Plans are under way for the M86 Education Pack launch and celebration of the project in April. Great opportunity to celebrate the huge success of this project which included numerous engaging and enlightening workshops and events within the community. The project's exhibition 'Back from the Brink' at the Dorman attracted over 30,000 visitors and Alan Spence's play 'The Boro's 37'mins' received great acclaim from the community. The education pack is a fantastic resource for local schools and will also be available on the M86 website:

Philippa - New for 2013 the Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust are offering an events management internship as part of its education and tours production, Beneath the Boards. Great news - to be able to offer opportunities for people to get into heritage!


Philippa - Rehearsals are well under way for the Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust's production for 2013 - Beneath the Boards. I am enjoying coordinating such a talented young cast and crew, so much promise!

Brian - Working on various funding applications at the moment for NECDT and towards a Heritage Lottery application by the Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust which will be submitted later this year. HLF funding is essential for the continued survival and sustainability of the magnificent, grade one listed, Tyne Theatre & Opera House!

Philippa - Pleased to announce that performances of Beneath the Boards will run throughout June as part of the highly anticipated and first Festival of the North East!

Philippa - Exciting year ahead for the Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust. The Trust is re-branding! Currently receiving corporate design submissions from local design agencies to undertake this project.

Philippa - Planning and preparation under way for the Trust's 2013 Education and Tours programme. This year Chris Campbell is the Trust's new director for the 2013 Education and Tours Production, Beneath the Boards! The animated tour has been written by two Newcastle University English graduates and will once again be performed by Newcastle College acting students. We are also pleased to acknowledge our new partners for this years production; Gateshead College - technical crew and Cleveland College of Art and Design - costume design.
