Tyne Theatre and Opera House Preservation Trust

Brian Debnam and Associates Ltd are the coordinating consultants for the Tyne Theatre and Opera House Preservation Trust, providing both strategic and day to day management and finance services.

The Tyne Theatre and Opera House Preservation trust are now the proud owners of the freehold of the Tyne Theatre and Opera House. The newly refurbished trust offices are also the new premises of the Chinese Centre (North of England). SMG (managers of the MetroRadio Arena) remain as the tenants of the theatre, which operates as the Journal Tyne Theatre.

The Trust, with funding from English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund has commissioned Simpson & Brown Architects to produce a full conservation study and policy for the theatre which is published on this site (see link above).

Other work funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund includes an access plan by Burdus Access Management and an education and exhibition scoping exercise. Brian Debnam and Associates Ltd are responsible for the business planning and for coordinating the overall project.

Simpson & Brown Architects have been engaged by the Trust early in 2009, to produce an architectural feasibility study and options analysis for the development and restoration of the theatre over the next 5 yrs.

English Heritage has also awarded the Trust £105,00 to go towards urgent repairs and maintenance work to the roof and walls of the theatre, this project will be managed by Stephen Box from RNJ Partnership in conjunction with BDA Ltd and the Trust.
