Brian - In South Africa to work on the Hamburg Project from 30th November to 11th December.

Brian - over the past few months we have completed tasks for Sunderland City Council and NTC Touring and we are currently working with Arts Centre Washington on an examination of organisational direction and governance options.

Brian - I am pleased to welcome Philippa Leith to BDA! Philippa will be working as Administrator. 

Jen - Thanks for all of the applications for the administrator position at BDA. We received over 50 applications!  

Brian - sad that Maria is moving on to live in Brussels, with her partner Sergei.  Sergei has gained a post at the University following the completion of his PHD at Newcastle University. Maria will be job hunting in Brussels over the next few months as she also tries to add fluent French to her fluent Latvian Russian, English, Spanish and Italian! We all wish her well and we hope to work with her again in the future, at least in partnership with the lucky employer who gains her services! 

Brian - is attending the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) Congress in South Korea from 11th to 17th June 2012. 

Brian- just got back from a two week initial research trip from Eastern Cape, South Africa, where we are working on the organisational development programme for the brand new Hamburg Artists' residency complex. 

Maria - We have launched a North East Students Arts research campaign to research the possibility of facilitating a Student led, developed, produced & managed Student Arts Festival showcasing work from Design, Arts & Performing Arts Students from all Colleges & Unis in NE of England.  Maria - Jenny Dewar's own produced Company TSU is  proud to present Luke Barnes’ North-East debut GEROMINO opening at ARC Stockton Arts Centre Wed 23rd and Thur 24th May 2012.

'They grew up in Teesside and then went their separate ways… An important anniversary brings a group of friends back together to remember the events that shaped their lives. Will they ever be free of the ghosts of their past? Will they stick around to find out?'

Directed by Amy Golding (Theatre Auracaria), this daring and insightful piece has been developed with young people from Tees Achieve; Positive Futures and Acklam Grange School; MyPlace Middlesbrough; North Ormesby Youth and Community Centre, Middlesbrough College and Teesside University with support from ARC Stockton Arts Centre, Middlesbrough Council and Arts Council England. 05/05/2012

Maria - the M86 project, which I coordinate is proud to be extremely successful in attracting more than 30 000 visitors to its Back from the Brink exhibition at the Dorman Museum in Middlesbrough. 16/04/2012 

Brian - just heard today that in partnership with Isiseko Senkonjane and Peter Stark, BDA Ltd will be working on an organisational development programme for the Hamburg Artists' residency in Eastern Cape, South Africa from May 2012  03/04/2012

Brian - I presented the results of recent consultancy work to the Board of New Brewery Arts in Cirencester. 30/03/2012

Brian -  Jenny Dewar, our Administration and Projects Manager for the past 4 years has left BDA Ltd to work as a freelance producer - she is resident producer with Company TSU, a Teesside based theatre company and is undertaking freelance administration work for the North East Circus Development Trust, Swallows Foundation UK and Theatre Auracaria. Congratulations to Jen and Company TSU for securing a £10,000 ACE Grants for the Arts award for a new production which will premier at ARC in Stockton in May. 

Jen will maintain a close working relationship with BDA Ltd by working as an associate on projects from time to time.

 Maria - the Tours programme at the Tyne Theatre directed by Helen Dobson and organised by Tyne Theatre Trust with BDA  has welcomed 8 local schools and has received great feedback from students. Members of the public will have a chance to attend the tours during the Heritage Open Days in September 2012. Booking will be essential. 

Brian - congratulations to Isiseko Senkonjane - Swallows Foundation South Africa for securing South African National Arts Council funding for another year and an invitation to apply for a further three years core funding

Maria - We have been appointed as consultants by New Brewery Arts in Cirencester to help them maximise their potential for long term financial sustainability. 


Brian - away from the office most of next week (commencing 23rd January) working in Kent on the St Peter's Church project. Back in Tyneside on Friday 27th in the evening. 18/12/2012

Press launch of Middlesbrough 86 exhibition at the Dorman Museum Middlesbrough with Middlesbrough Football Club Manager Tony Mowbray and a number of ex players on 25th January 2012. Celebration of the exhibition and official opening on 2nd February 2012. Exhibition open to the public until 15th April Admission free.
